Closing Show: Amsterdam Fashion Week

On Sunday it was the closing show of the Amsterdam Fashion Week. We were invited to the......

As I see it, it was the best show of the week, mainly because it was actually THE show. The music fit the atmosphere and the eyewear was in a nice combination with the total look. It was more about high fashion than in previous shows.

 So let's have a look at some guests firstly....

Provoke me

In fashion they use everything to attract our attention: humour, comparison, moral and emotions. Provocation was one of the strongest weapons to get one's attention. Whether you are looking at pages of magazine or surfing the Internet these ads catch your eye.  

Sisley was always rather provocative itself...But don't you think  sometimes it's too much?

 Does it show the dark side of fashion by warning us? or does it attract new followers making it fashionable? does it make "being bad" fashionable?

But when you are talking about provocation Tom Ford is 1st, but his provocation differs in many ways. 

With Gucci  it doesnt show a lot, but live you with a thought that you saw a lot.

With his collection Tom Ford was always more opened.....  but so seductive and stylish at the same time. Tom Ford admires a women what makes it sexy on the edge..

All Star turned INDIGO

Yesterday I was lucky to be invited to the Presentation of the the launch of the Indigo Chuck Taylor All Star.  

The party was devoted to the launch of the All Star sneakers. The sneakers were designed by Chuck Taylor and  Tenue de Nimes.

The concept of the shop is Denim. So by looking around you can find hilarious ideas. These guys turned everything into denim, I would say Rock Denim.

Do you wanna know why did they call the shop Tenue de Nimes? 

First of all Tenue de Nimes refers to a fabric by the name of Serge de Nimes, which is according to the myth, the starting point of denim as we know it these days. You can probably see how the word ‘denim’ derives from ‘de Nimes’. The combination Tenue de Nimes stands for: Outfit of denim, or outfit combined with denim. And if you would go deeper: outfit from Nimes, the French city where the 17th century fabric called ‘Serge de Nimes’ originates from. 

Well nevertheless It was a party, so I would also add, nice sushi, guys! :) 

Is fashion an art and is art fashionable?

Being away from my mother-country got me concentrated on European magazine market, so the cover of the VOGUE Russia for June attracted my attention only now.

The main idea of this issue was to combine the art and fashion. VOGUE invited Daria Zhukova (the owner of the fashionable gallery in Moscow and wife of Abramovich) torealize her vision of this union. But what attracted me mostly was the cover of VOGUE.

Just look at it....

This is when you see the art in fashion. The painter who made this cover so amazingly profound is Francesco Vezzoli.

He performed the model Paulina Porizkova as Rennaissance Madonna with "golden tears" of Salvador Dali. Moreover VOGUE's cover was already  the object of Joan Miro's and Picasso's works.

As to me this cover of VOGUE truly reflected the modern perception of fashion. 

The beauty, the so called virginity,  from the outside which doesnt reflect the real you, what results into tears. Another thought can be about the golden tears and its abbreviation.  

Is it about sacrificing?  

Or do the tears make us equal? 

we wouldnt know what Francesco wanted to tell us but still I couldnt stay neutral to this cover.

Cultural Fashion: Christian Louboutin and Art

Christian Louboutin was always specific about his shoe collections. His new look book of the collection autumn|winter is an extraordinary combination of the culture and fashion. People often say that culture and fashion are stepping together, Christian Louboutin proved it with this look book. His new collection was inspired by famous paintings (from George de la Tour's "Magdalene and the flame" to Jean-Marc Nattier portraits) and with a help of  Peter Lippman (photographer)  was brought to the critical eye of fashionistas.
